What is a Baronfig Edition?
Editions are experimental releases that give us room to explore ideas through objects, materials, collaborations, and new ways of making. They sit between our permanent Tools collection and the broader creative work of the studio.
Why does Baronfig make Editions?
Because not every idea needs to become a permanent product. Editions let us experiment freely, follow a specific question, work with unusual materials or collaborators, and make things that are meaningful precisely because they belong to a particular moment.
What’s the difference between Special, Limited, and Studio Editions?
Special Editions are creative variations that may sell out and return.
Limited Editions are produced in a fixed quantity and are never reproduced in the same form.
Studio Editions are rare, authored works made in very small quantities, and sometimes as one-of-one pieces.
What’s the difference between a Tool and an Edition?
Tools are part of our permanent collection and are designed to remain in ongoing production. Editions are more exploratory. They may be temporary, highly specific, limited in quantity, or created around a particular idea, material, or collaboration.
Will an Edition ever return?
It depends on the type. Special Editions may return after selling out. Limited Editions are never reproduced in the same form once the edition is complete. Studio Editions are generally made only in their original quantity.
Why are some Editions made in such small quantities?
Sometimes the material, process, collaborator, or idea only makes sense at a small scale. We let the nature of the work determine the quantity rather than treating scarcity as the point.
Can an Edition become a permanent Tool?
Yes. Editions are one way we explore what might deserve a longer life. An idea that begins as an experiment may eventually inform, evolve into, or become part of the permanent Tools collection.
